Stopping Violence Dunedin (SVD) is a not for profit organisation based in Dunedin, New Zealand, committed to reducing family violence and other damaging conflict in our communities. Stopping Violence Dunedin provides individual and group education for people with violence issues. People who use SVD's services may be self- referred or referred by the Courts or Probation Services. Initially established as the "Dunedin Men's Action on Family Violence" in 1986, the organisation became 'Stopping Violence Dunedin Inc' in 1996. Stopping Violence Dunedin is a Ministry of Justice DVA approved provider of stopping violence group and individual education programmes for male perpetrators, and is an approved provider with with Child Youth and Family. We are a member agency of Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Patunga (the National Network of Stopping Violence), and Jigsaw.

Meets lunch time Wednesdays at the Techniques, Harbour Terrace, Dunedin Welcomes guests and other Rotarians at any time. Involved in a range of community activities and works closely with local schools and young people in particular in a wide range of ways. Regular meals on wheels deliveries to old folk Loads of projects involving the Hospice, including the Remembrance Tree every year.

Cycle with the Stars will kick off the first National Habitat Awareness Week in New Zealand. The event will be held Saturday October 1st at ‘Market Square’, outside the food court at Botany Town Centre, from 12-2pm.

The Edgecumbe Fire Brigade is a Volunteer Brigade that services the Edgecumbe township and surrounding areas within the Eastern Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. The brigade currently has 22 very dedicated members, many have served in the brigade for a number of years & some have joined in recent times. We all live within the Edgecumbe community and are either employed in town or outside of the district. The Edgecumbe fire brigade has two fire appliances and we answer on average 150 – 200 calls every year. The types of calls we go to vary from house fires, vegetation fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical assistance, rescues, hazardous substance spills, false alarms, industrial fires & incidents and of course natural disasters. The NZ fire service provides extensive training opportunities, qualifications & various necessities such as uniforms, protective clothing, equipment, appliances, communication systems and insurance. Being a member of your local fire Brigade is “fun & exciting” it is excellent opportunity serve & give back to the community that you live in.
