MMPO

MMPO

376 Manchester Street, Christchurch ,
The MMPO was established by the New Zealand College of Midwives in 1997 to provide its Lead Maternity Carer midwives with a supportive practice management and quality assurance infrastructure and a business framework enabling high quality continuity of care for women throughout Aotearoa, New Zealand. Our Main Functions We support the sustainability of midwifery practices and maternity services throughout New Zealand by providing a responsive practice management support service and a midwifery focused electronic practice management system that enables midwives to meet their service, financial and professional commitments. We also undertake a variety of projects for the profession, health service providers, the Ministry of Health, research organisations and communities that utilize the rich collection of data we manage around the provision of maternity services in New Zealand by midwives. These activities are achieved by providing the following: 1. A standardized, peer reviewed set of maternity notes and series of individualized reporting templates. 2. Access to and ongoing support for an electronic maternity record and practice management system incorporating the NZCOM data set and a suite of reports. 3. A reliable maternity service claiming and payment systems for Lead Maternity Carer midwives and associated maternity service providers. 4. Support for the role of NZCOM to develop and service the profession by: • providing aggregated clinical information on midwifery activities and outcomes for benchmarking, research and service monitoring, • undertaking projects that inform the development of midwifery services, • collecting relevant maternity outcome data to ensure midwives can review their work against the standards of the profession and help women choosing midwifery led maternity care achieve high quality outcomes. 5. Information for consumers, the profession, LMC midwives and providers of maternity services to enable and support midwives to provide quality, woman focused care.

Coromandel Watchdog of Hauraki

Coromandel Watchdog of Hauraki

C/o- PO Box 396, Thames ,
Watchdog was founded in 1979 when the price of gold went up and exploratory drilling activity was happening all over the peninsula. Watchdog has and continues to lobby local and national government to legally protect these special areas, as well as using non-violent direct action to show mining companies they are not welcome on the Coromandel. In 1997, as a result of Coromandel Watchdog’s activism, the Kopu-Hikuai road became the line that divided the protected from the unprotected. All conservation and coastal land below this line is not protected by Schedule 4. 2010 was a big year for watchdog with a huge campaign alongside other environmental organization and New Zealander’s to oppose the government’s proposal to remove areas from Schedule 4. The government backed down after over 40,000 submissions and a massive public protest march down Queen Street. Despite our win with Schedule 4, mining is still a danger to the unique and special nature of our peninsula. Schedule 4 leaves out huge areas of conservation land in southern Coromandel and what’s more the price of gold is approaching US$2000 per ounce. The threat to the Coromandel has never been so real. Kauri 2000

Kauri 2000

18 Coghill Street. P.O. Box 174, Whitianga ,
How it Works Every donation helps us plant and care for more kauri. We work with the Department of Conservation, LTNZ, the Thames-Coromandel and Hauraki District Councils and others to identify and establish special Kauri 2000 planting sites around the Peninsula. The Kauri 2000 Trust buys the seedlings and prepares the land for planting. Then, every winter, our volunteers carefully plant the 600mm-high trees, creating the forests of tomorrow. We record the location of all planting sites and trees in the Kauri 2000 database, and every donor receives a certificate identifying where the kauri bought with that donation are planted. We then monitor and maintain all planting sites for at least five years until the trees are established. Who Can Take Part? Everyone! Families, individuals, whanau, friends, visitors from New Zealand or overseas, communities, business and schools. All you need to do is make your donation… we'll do the rest. Plant kauri every year - for each of your children, to remember a special person, to remember a special holiday or anniversary. You can support Kauri 2000 wherever you live.
