Naumai Toastmasters

Naumai Toastmasters

35 Manawapou Rd, Hawera ,
Through its worldwide network of clubs, each week Toastmasters helps more than a quarter of a million men and women of every ethnicity, education level and profession build their competence in communication so they can gain the confidence to lead others. Toastmasters continues to build on its legacy by providing a strong foundation for the future. Its proven educational program continually evolves to address the needs of the world's communicators and leaders both today and tomorrow. Toastmasters members learn to tell their story. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback – and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership. They do this by practice and learning skills by filling meeting roles, ranging from giving a prepared or an impromptu speech to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian. There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in positive manner, focusing on what was done correctly and what could be improved. Great communicators tend to be great leaders.

Hobsonville Point

Hobsonville Point

5 Station Street, Hobsonville Point, Auckland ,
With beautiful rolling green land, character buildings, a boulevard of mature palm trees, harbour views and existing bush - Hobsonville Point was always going to be an extraordinary development. Still, we've taken plans to make sure that every street is 'the best street in town'. It is important to us that new residents have plenty of choice as to the size, plan, look and price of their home. Where we’ve come from Before European settlement the land was covered in kauri forest. The tidal flats on the southern and eastern coast were teeming with birds and seafood, a source of delicious kai for local iwi. They knew the Point and surrounds as ‘Onekiritea’ after the clay soil found in the area, which they used for its pigment and as a natural soap. In 1853 around a thousand acres was bought by the Crown and cut into four blocks, part of which was eventually names ‘Hobsonville’ after Captain William Hobson, New Zealand’s first governor. The air force established its home on the Point in 1929 and the land became dotted with barracks, hangars and houses. Many of the early houses and buildings will remain and be reused to preserve Hobsonville Point’s character and provide a link to the communities the Point has been home to in the past. Our first new residents have already moved in. Already here: Catalina Cafe and Community Space Farmers Market - every Saturday and Sunday 9am to 1pm First stage of a 4km coastal waskway Hobsonville Point Park with its award winning playground. In the pipeline: Hobsonville Point Wharf - opening early 2013 for commuter service to the city Hobsonville Point Primary School - opening for February 2013 Hobsonville Point Secondary School - opening for February 2014
