New Zealand College of Performing Arts About the New Zealand College of Performing Arts The New Zealand College of Performing Arts offers high quality training in performing arts practice, providing a relevant route for a career in acting for television, theatre and film. Programme Description The New Zealand College of Performing Arts in association with Whitireia Community Polytechnic offers a Diploma in Stage and Screen Arts, Level 6, and the choice of doing the Diploma in Applied Stage and Screen Arts (Advanced) level 7, or enrolling in the Year Three BAppA (Performing Arts). The Diploma in Stage and Screen Arts is a vocational acting course that introduces and develops to a professional standard, skills and an aptitude to enable graduates to seek work in diverse performing arts industries. The Diploma in Stage and Screen Arts (Advanced) is a transition to work programme through industry secondment opportunities and self generated performance projects. The Bachelor of Applied Performing Arts has a higher theoretical component in addition to practical performance. Best Quality Graduates have gone on to professional performance work in New Zealand and overseas, some have created their own work for both touring programmes and within established performance venues. Graduates of the Diploma in Stage and Screen Arts, can step up to the Diploma in Stage and Screen Arts, (Advanced) or Bachelor of Applied Performing Arts (BAppA) or go on to pursue a career in the performing arts industry, teaching or other related field. Graduates of the College have performed in major theatre, film and television projects in New Zealand and overseas. Some have created their own work both for touring programmes and within established performance venues.
