New Plymouth Community Patrol

New Plymouth Community Patrol

New Plymouth community Patrol is affiliated with Community Patrols of New Zealand. A condition of affiliation to Community Patrols of New Zealand is that the patrol has the support and confidence of the Police and has a police liaison officer allocated to work with it. Community patrollers act as 'eyes and ears' for police. Patrolling their community in pairs, patrollers note anything that could be suspicious and inform police immediately of incidents requiring urgent attention. Police notify the patrol of suspicious activities and trouble spots they would like the patrol to keep an eye on, as well as informing the patrol of events occurring in the area. Each member must sign a declaration of confidentiality and agree to abide by a code of conduct before working with the patrol. Applicants are vetted by the Police before becoming patrol members and must complete a period of training (usually three months) where they work with senior patrollers.
New Plymouth Parents Centre

New Plymouth Parents Centre

52 Buller Street, P O Box 4059, New Plymouth ,
Parents Centre is a community based not-for-profit organisation set up by parents for parents in 1952. New Plymouth Parents Centre was one of the first to be established, in 1957, and we are still going strong, helping parents with parenting. We hold antenatal classes, sessions on baby’s first few months, to sessions on baby’s development in the moving and munching classes. Our tinies-to-tots course looks at our little babies becoming independent strong-minded little people. Hundreds of Mums and Dads and carers bring their children to our playgroups and learn through play in a safe, stimulating child-friendly environment. Parenting is a vital role in the community. It is the most important job any of us will ever experience and it should be recognised, valued and supported by decision-makers, authorities, health and education professionals and the community in general. New Plymouth Parents Centre believes that prospective parents have the right to quality parenting and childbirth education and information, enabling them to make informed decisions on their parenting role. Our centre is supported in a number of ways by Parents Centres New Zealand Inc. However, we are a separate entity and as such are charged with the responsibility of providing the best we can for our membership and the wider community.
