Taupo Skate Park was opened in 2000 with the efforts of local skaters. One of the best parks in the country not only because of its design but the skaters & locals who have made it their own! The Skate Park is located at the A C Reserve on Tauhara Road. Constructed by Tracks Concrete of Whakatane at a cost of $200,000, it is a Chad Ford designed facility. The overall dimensions are 55 metres long by 29 metres at its widest point and it has 1286 square metres of concrete surface to skate. Since the park was opened it has been enhanced with the addition of a drinking fountain, barriers, paving, seats, a toilet and lighting. It has become a popular venue for a wide ranging age group and is also used for skating demos, competitions and other youth events. - 2006/ !@M3 Sk8 / LAME SKATE & BMX JAM INC// !@M3 is an indie Sk8 crew… represent’n hard & bring Taupo Skate Park events, comps & gigs! … founded by skater, urban indie artist & designer Cole Holyoake (!@M3) to get some action for the park at Taupo & to hook up the crew!
