SHIATSU Shiatsu is a practice of healing which is aimed at raising your whole standard of health. It is concerned with an individuals unique physical and emotional state. Shiatsu treatment is the practitioner feeling with the hands and creating harmony in the energy of the body so you feel energised and strengthened. This shift in energy is incorporated into some positive growth process, because the Practitioner is constantly aware and supporting your vital energy. The massage is engaging, the pressure and technique will vary according to the client but will feel 'good' to each individual. Shiatsu like Acupuncture is a form of Oriental Medicine and draws on a tradition of knowledge and practice developed over 4000 years. Using massage for healing is foundational to most cultures traditional medicine. Shiatsu is now a recognized medical therapy in modern Japan and is one of the fastest growing forms of complementary therapy. HOW IT WORKS A Shiatsu practitioner is aware of the energy of the body through observation and touch. Thia allows the Practitioner to work on many different levels at the same time. 1. The stretching and adjusting techniques help release muscle tension, ease joint stiffness and re-align body structure. 2. Imbalances in the functioning of the internal organs and subsequent pain, tension or weakness throughout the body are balanced with pressure to the meridians and points. 3. The meridians each have particular profound emotional areas of influence, for example the Metal phase which is connected to the Lung and Large Intestine Meridians can be associated with grief or loss and issues with bonding or letting go. 4. By using Auric healing techniques on a subtle level, mental anxiety can also be eased. WHO CHOOSES SHIATSU? There is no restriction to having Shiatsu in respect to age, sex, size, or culture. Shiatsu does engage the client in a supportive 'conversation' with their own energy and structure. It can feel like a surprising and highly enjoyable relief to feel ones own body in this direct but gentle way Regardless of specific reasons for choosing to have Shiatsu, the treatment will be relaxing. It will release tension in the body and balance mental function and will also provide perspective and clarity. From experience if you need to gain or maintain stability for yourself because of a demanding work or personal situation, you will benifit significantly. Please refer to testimonials. WHAT TREATMENT INVOLVES Each Shiatsu session lasts approx. 1hr to 1 1/4 hrs It will begin with a consultation about your health and treatment aims. You will lie on a supportive mat/futon on the floor. Loose, comfortable clothing is needed, as cloths are worn throughout the treatment. There will be time for discussion about the treatment and advise on diet or corrective exercise if appropriate.
