Pinehill opened in January 1997 with a roll 117 students and has grown to over 500. Our team of over 40 teachers and support staff take great pride in providing the best quality learning environment for our children. The school site consists of 23 teaching classrooms, specialist music, ICT and art rooms, a number of withdrawal teaching spaces and a hall fully equipped with sound and lighting facilities. "The Pinehill Way" is our way of promoting the social values and expectations of our school. Pinehill provides a wide range of cultural and sporting opportunities for children at all levels. Netball, basketball, touch and hockey are all played on a regular competitive basis with other sports covered by field days We have active choirs, kapa haka and musical groups in the school. Each year we also have a production or music festival and an art exhibition to give talented students opportunities to present their learning in these areas.

As part of the internationally recognised and trusted Kip McGrath Education organisation, we offer individually tailored educational programmes for all levels of student from pre-school to tertiary, whether they are struggling, excelling, or anywhere in between. Each new student is given a free consultation to establish their level, to discuss the parents’ concerns and to decide the most appropriate course of study. Each student’s programme is individually planned, and proceeds at the student’s own pace. Studying at Kip McGrath is suitable for all students, from those who need extra help to catch up as well as those needing the challenge of extension work. All Kip McGrath Centres use a tutorial system based on a series of computer and multi-media programmes integrated with structured worksheets and book exercises. Students work with their tutor in small groups and progress using carefully graded material. In this way students gain confidence by reaching challenging but attainable goals. Sessions run for eighty minutes (sixty minutes for seniors), once or twice a week. Students’ progress is assessed regularly and parents are given regular feedback.

'Inside-out Pilates' is focused on developing strength and balance from the inside out. It is centered around mind-body conditioning, that helps build flexibility, strength and endurance in all parts of the body especially through compound exercises strengthening the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. The primary focus of 'Inside-Out Pilates' is posture with emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing and control to allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance.
