"This series of paintings are the fruit of a several decade exploration of the many faces of the divine feminine. To this end Stephanie Sinclaire Lightsmith has travelled in Egypt, Bali, Europe, the Americas, Mexico, Iceland, Greenland, Israel, India and the Kingdom of Bhutan studying the sacred texts and myths of many cultures, observing and participating in sacred ritual, including shamanic traditions. Of the many elements that connect humanity the world over the concept of the divine feminine as the nurturer, provider and creative source is a constant whether called Mary, Kwan Yin, Shekinah, Papatuanuku, Durga, White Buffalo Calf Woman, Kali, Tara or Mother Earth. These images are a record of a personal journey and a direct experiential connection and communication with this very real aspect of life." In the past year Stephanie has been further inspired by her studies with Shiloh Sophia McCloud on the Color of Woman, the Red Madonna and the Cosmic CowGirls. New work will be coming in soon include Fraser Wyeth's Shadow and Light series of photographs and Katherine Wyeth's composite photos highlighting aspects of motherhood and her Storybook Tiger. We support the youth mentoring trust Challenge for Change and Katherine Wyeth is currently a designing a drama programme with Ailsa Krefft to be launched next year.
