Wellington Filipino Community Choir

Wellington Filipino Community Choir

71 Abel Smith St. , Wellington ,
The Wellington Filipino Community Choir first got together in 1996 to perform for Philippines to New Zealand. In 1999, the choir reformed to help raise funds with Bulwagan Foundation for a Filipino community centre. Since then, we continue to meet every week, moved by our inherent love of singing and friendship. Our repertoire covers a wide range from sacred music, spiritual, popular, jazz to Filipino folk and modern songs. The Wellington Filipino Community Choir is a mixed-voice choir and would like to see the choir grow. We are a friendly bunch and endeavor to encourage one another and while some are experienced singers, others have done little singing. It is a stimulating place to be on Monday nights. The group has been self-directing for many years until recently, Robert Ty, a young gifted musical director saw our potential and decided to join us. We are privileged to have Robert take the choir to new heights. Joining us is easy. You will need to have a love of singing and the ability to hold a tune and a keen interest in learning more, developing skills in choral singing and a commitment to our weekly rehearsals (Occasionally extra ones) and our performances - usually two or three major ones a year, ane some other smaller ones.

Shona and her teachers prepare students for a career in the dance industry and a number of our students have excelled in their training and continue to pursue careers. More importantly, cater for those students who have a love of dance. You can attend The Bennett School just for fun and to meet new friends. We teach the Cecchetti Ballet Method, emphasising the timeless principals of grace, balance and line form the basis of a sound training syllabus that has been developed to meet the needs of today’s modern child teaching co-ordination, poise, confidence, rhythmical sense and musicality while ensuring that the process is still fun! With our Jazz syllabus, the emphasis is on versatility and incorporates a little hip hop, soft shoe, cabaret, contemporary, modern ballet, Spanish, waltz tap and even rock `n' roll in some of the grades. The school is very friendly and family focused and we maintain a very supportive approach to your child's learning. Your child is not just a number in a class but an important member of the dance school and we concern ourselves with your child's needs. Contact The Bennett School to find out more.

Auckland YMCA Marathon Club - New Zealand (Official)

153 Greys Ave, Auckland ,
The YMCA Marathon Club in Auckland is New Zealand's foremost marathon running & walking club. Our purpose is to help you achieve your distance running & walking goals. We have never once failed to get a new member across the finish line of their first marathon or half-marathon. And we've been going since 1977 so that's quite an achievement! Our secret weapon in achieving this remarkable feat is our pack running system which follows Arthur Lydiard's formula "that long, even-pace running at a strong speed produces increased strength and endurance... and is beneficial to regular competition." Each pack runs at a set pace and you choose the pack best suited to your ability and fitness level. • Rat pack (keep up if you can!) • 5's (5:00/km pace) • 5¼'s (5:15/km pace) • 5½'s (5:30/km pace) • 5¾'s (5:45/km) • 6's (6:00/km) • 6¼'s (6:15/km) • 6½'s (6:30/km) • 7's (7:00/km) • 8's (8:00/km) • Walkers
