Who are we? The inaugural Captain Morgan Snapper Bonanza was created with the support of Captain Morgan Rum, Far North District Council & Community Board and business owners of Kaitaia. The goal was to recreate an exceptional surfcasting event for the many competitors who undertake an annual pilgrimage to the Far North of New Zealand to take part in a surfcasting extravaganza on the mighty 90 Mile Beach. The second one is now under our belts and we feel that it was an outstanding success. From the many quality prizes to the licensed bar on site, and the 600 plus entrants whom all agreed it was great. Comments like, “the best one yet”, “we will be back” and “don’t change anything, it’s awesome”, were well received. Those that were at the 2011 competition would have seen the early bird prize for 2012, a predator torpedo set complete with electric winch, worth $3600. The Waitakere Pacific Arts and Cultural Centre aka the PACIFICA ARTS CENTRE is the realisation of supreme vision and hard work; The centre has grown from the energy of a few passionate and committed people; the active support of the Auckland Council; the Waitakere Pacific Board (formerly Pacific Islands Advisory Board); and The Pacifica Mamas. The latter has become the heart and soul of this space, taking weaving classes, showing school children and adults how to make Pacific arts and creating a studio space for selling and showcasing art pieces.

Department of Cycling is a cycling club registered with Bike New Zealand with the aim of introducing and supporting as many people as possible to the fun loving West Auckland cycling community.

Special Olympics Waitakere offers a year-round programme of sports training and competition for children and adults with an intellectual disability.

WIA was formed in year 2000 by a concerned and dedicated group of Waitakere Residents after receiving requests from members of the Indian community. In a fast growing city we are experiencing a influx of new residents/immigrants of Indian origin and to cater for their ethnic needs of culture, language and values, WIA has been instrumental in providing this platform for the Indian community. WIA has been and is working with the City council and other NGO agencies in promoting events that allow the Indian community to share their culture and traditions with the rest the community in Waitakere City . WIA is a duly incorporated organisation with a constitution that allows for proper management as a trust. It is a parent body for Indians in Waitakere City and the membership comprises of individual ,family and group membership.
