Pregnant women, mothers, babies/older siblings all welcome If you are pregnant and plan to breastfeed your baby, you'll want the information and encouragement that La Leche League can provide. If you are already breastfeeding, the tips, techniques and support you will receive from our trained Leaders and other mothers is invaluable. Would you like to meet other breastfeeding mothers for support and to share experiences in a place where babies and their older siblings are welcome? La Leche League Timaru holds monthly discussions where mothers can get information and support, borrow books and meet others. A wide range of breastfeeding and parenting topics are discussed, including why breastfeed, looking after a new baby, overcoming breastfeeding difficulties, nutrition and weaning. The discussion topics are flexible depending on the needs of those present. We can discuss any other breastfeeding issues and answer your specific breastfeeding questions.

Membership comes from a diverse range of age groups and occupations, with emphasis being on the enjoyment of looking at the cosmos. We aim to get people actively involved with learning and taking part in astronomy through a fun, social and enthusiastic atmosphere. We encourage the attendance of activities and monthly star parties, and with the help of members we sometimes hold public events. We are a helpful and friendly crowd, and we welcome all who are interested in astronomy. Visitors welcome.

In terms of their time on projects and money raised, it is estimated Lions contribute more than $100 million each year for charitable organisations here and in the Pacific. The prestigious Financial Times in Britain voted Lions the world’s best “Non-Government Organisation” to work with. Lions have worked in partnership with the United Nations on various humanitarian projects since it was formed after the Second World War.

Tokoroa AFC has been in existence for almost 60 years and will be indeed celebrating its diamond jubilee in 2013 From its humble beginning as Kinleith United in 1953, it has grown and prospered and now provides football for players of all ages and abilities with our adult & children’s team taking part in Waikato / Bay of plenty wide competitions Changing its name to Tokoroa AFC in 1958 the club moved to Memorial Park where it was to play for the next 16 years, before moving to its current headquarters at Strathmore Park in 1974 Thanks to the efforts and input from the clubs dedicated players and supporters a purpose built clubrooms has been established that overlooks the #1 playing field and caters for Senior & Junior football on an all year round basis The late 1960’s saw Tokoroa as a trial blazer, being one of the 1st Waikato based teams to participate in the Northern League football competition, meaning matches within the Auckland area virtually every 2nd weekend The club built a reputation for playing hard competitive football, but at the same time also developed the social side so that many lasting friendships were developed with the various Auckland based teams The clubs Altex cup competition was for many years one of the great attractions which had the support of teams from as far a field as Whangarei, Auckland, Palmerston and Wellington 2009 saw Tokoroa AFC nominated for and winning the South Waikato Sports Club of the year, something we are very pleased and proud about as it is recognition from our peers that we are doing something right, giving us a base to work on as we go forward into the next 60 years Today the club caters for -: Senior football – With two men’s and one ladies team taking part in the Waikato / Bay of Plenty competition – training nights are Tuesday & Thursday from 18-00
