ROTORUA ELIM CHURCH

1149 Eruera St, Rotorua ,
Service times are 10am Every Sunday, 1149 Eruera St Rotorua. This is a Life giving Positive church culture. What you'll find at Rotorua Elim Church is a place where you can make life-changing relationships and find your purpose in life. You'll also experience dynamic worship, inspirational messages and your children will love our fantastic programs designed just for them. We're a relaxed church and we're passionate about living our lives for God. FAQ We understand that you may have a few questions about Rotorua Elim in making your decision whether or not to visit in person. Here are 10 questions we are commonly asked about Church services. 1. Where and when do you meet? We meet every Sunday 10am in the heart of Rotorua, Click here for a map . In addition, we have Life Groups that meet across Rotorua to cater to all ages and interests. 2. Your street front looks like an art Gallery? That is because from Monday-Saturday our church foyer is an art gallery. Our church staff run the gallery and you can meet our Pastors there most days. 3. What should I wear? We are a contemporary church and dress in an informal manner. Our minister will not be in robes. We are more concerned about you being comfortable and relaxed than the clothes you wear. Many members of Elim spend their working week in suits and ties and as such prefer to dress more casually on Sundays. Of course, if you do want to wear a suit or your “Sunday best”, feel free but it is certainly not required. 4. What do you do? We believe your relationship with God is important. While “religion” often carries a connotation of robes, holy water and a pipe organ, you will not find those at Elim. We endeavor to present our services in a creative and fresh way that encourages you on your journey to know God. Our services have contemporary music with a live band and relevant teaching. If you have children, they will be looked after and have a fun time (see question 8 below). Once a month we celebrate communion. This is simply a time to remember the sacrifice of Christ. Our services also include an opportunity to give financially, which we call tithes and offerings. Make sure you read the next question… We also include an opportunity for anyone who would like to commit to being a Christian to do so. A Christian is simply a follower of Christ. Please read question 7 for more in this regard. We are also privileged to have leaders in many fields from across our nation speak from time to time. 5. Do I have to give money? Giving tithes and offerings is for those who are part of the Elim community. You are our guest. We want you to sit back and receive, not feel compelled to give. When this time in the service approaches, feel free to pass the offering bag on. 6. What is the music like? Elim is a contemporary church with modern music. While we value our Christian heritage which includes songs from the centuries before, we appreciate that different people like different types of music. Our band is made up of skilled musicians and vocalists who lead Elim. You will enjoy this time in the service! During the music time, many people will stand and sing. This is a way that some people like to express themselves. If you feel comfortable, feel free to join in or simply stay seated and just enjoy the music. 7. Do I have to do anything? You are our valued guest. Please sit back, relax and enjoy your time with us. During the service, we would like to give you a gift if it is your first time. New people will be asked to raise there hands to be given this gift. Of course, if you would prefer not to raise your hand, that’s fine and you are able to collect your gift from one of our team after the service. Each service we endeavor to provide the opportunity for people to become Christians. A Christian is simply a follower of Christ. At the end of most services, we will invite anyone that would like to make this commitment to do so. During this time, if you would like to make that commitment, we will ask that you briefly raise your hand as an acknowledgment of your commitment. As a matter of courtesy and privacy, we ask that no one looks around or talks during this time – it is a matter between you and God. If you do make this decision and raise your hand, the minister will pray a prayer which many others will pray also and we encourage you to join in. If you have made that commitment for the first time, we have a team of specially trained assistants that would love to meet with you and answer any questions you may have. If you do not feel ready to make that commitment, that is fine, please enjoy yourself. 8. What about my kids? If you have kids, we have a parents room for Children under 2 with viewing and sound of the service in the auditorium. We also have a changing table for babies. Upstairs we run a Creche Program for 2-5 year olds and upstairs is also our large kids church program for 6-13 year olds. If you have any questions, or would like to see the children's area before a service, please ask at reception and we will be glad to help. 9. How long does the service go for? We appreciate that Sundays are a valuable day in your week. All of our services are 1.5 hours or less. After the service we have tea and coffee in the foyer and would love the opportunity to meet you in person. If you are pressed for time, just let us know your details and we will be happy to catch up with you at a time that suits you better. In the unusual event we are required to go later than expected, please feel free to quietly leave the auditorium – we will not be offended. 10. Do I need a Bible or anything? All you need is you! We believe in the Bible and our ministers use it as the reference point for teaching. If you have a Bible and would like to bring it, please feel free, but it is certainly not mandatory. In saying that, if you do not have a Bible and would like one, please ask one of our hosts and they will give you a Bible at no cost as a memento of your visit with Elim which we encourage you to read. It is our hope that your online experience will give you a taste of who we are and why we love Elim and our community here. If you have any other questions, please let us know by email through the contact section of this site. See you at church!

Rotorua Bible Baptist Church

55 Pukehangi Road, Rotorua ,
A Brief History of Rotorua Bible Baptist Church Rotorua Bible Baptist Church was founded in 1970 by Neville Keys and his family who started a Sunday School in the Buffalo Hall on View Road. The work eventually outgrew the premises and they shifted locations to the Sunset Intermediate School Hall in August 1974. At this time the name "Rotorua Bible Baptist Church" was adopted. Pastor Neville Keys continued to pastor the church until January 1984, when he left the church to start a new work in Whakatane. The church continued with interim pastors until January 1987, when Pastor Tommy O'Dell from the USA was voted as pastor. The church also moved locations at this time, to the Westbrook School Hall. Tommy O'Dell pastored the church until April 1990. During this time (in 1988), the church purchased the land where the current building stands. In mid-1990 Pastor Paul Brinkman was voted in as the new pastor. He pastored the church until February 1993. During his time as pastor the shell of the current building was completed. The first service held in the new building was the Christmas service of 1991. In July 1993 Pastor Shane Montgomery from the USA was voted in as the new pastor. Under his leadership, the Lord allowed the church to purchase the manse, complete the buildings, develop the property, begin many new ministries (including a Bible College). The church grew to an average of 160 people, larger than ever before. In 2005 the Montgomery's left Rotorua to begin a new work in Casa Grande, Arizona. The church voted Pastor Piper in as the new Pastor in that same year.
