The Salvation Army Petone
We are part of the wider Salvation Army (which is part of the universal Christian
Church) and our mission is: Care for people, transform lives and reform society.

*@10 - is our weekly Sunday service. It is a time to come together for good coffee, fellowship and facilitated discussion about the Christian life and how it applies to each of us.
The style differs from other church settings as we encourage discussion and input from all who attend.
*The Great Escape Café - is an exciting opportunity to have cafe quality pancakes and coffee with friends, family and people from the community who wouldn't normally attend church. It provides a friendly atmosphere that is safe and inclusive for children, with a theme that offers the opportunity for discussion. TGE is a key aspect of us building and maintaining strong relationships with people from within our community.
Church members contribute to the cafe through either setup, cooking, serving, cleaning, and by actively speaking to people (more than just a friendly hello). They are also encouraged to bring non-Christian friends and family.
It runs regularly on the last Sunday of every month (excluding December and January) from 9am at the hall, corner of Cuba and High Street (setup is the Saturday before at 3pm).
*2:52 Kids - runs on a Sunday morning during our @10 gatherings and is a fun and positive environment that looks to incite wonder, provoke discovery and fuel passion in the hearts of the children that attend – so they can see God for who He is, see themselves the way God sees them, and so they can love others the way God does.
*Sports Academy - is a fun, free and positive programme for children to get together and play sports and sport games. We focus on a specific sport or sporting skill each week, with plenty of games and challenges that encourage the use of these skills.
The Sports Academy runs two afternoons a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20 – 4:30pm, during school terms. It is open to primary and intermediate-aged children of all abilities and backgrounds. Children must be registered.
*Playgroup - is 2 hours of fun, food, and music for children, with conversation and relaxation for their parents/caregivers. Activities range from a baby mat area, reading corner, play dough, puzzles, art table, sand pit and ride on vehicles. It runs from 9.30-11.30am every Wednesday and Friday during school terms.
Playgroup is an entry point to the church and an opportunity for Christians to live their faith out with people. Church members are welcome and encouraged to come alongside the parents/caregivers during the session, assist in set up beforehand, help the Supervisor during the session, and/or cleaning at it's conclusion. Prayer for all who attend is welcomed.
*Leaders - Our Leaders are committed to helping people explore a Christian faith in a 2012 context, and to helping those who already follow Jesus do so with a deeper awareness and knowledge of Him.
