You can use your library card to borrow and return items at any of the 4 libraries. Joining Tauranga City Libraries is free for residents and ratepayers of Tauranga City and Western Bay of Plenty District. We also offer free membership for residents of Rotorua, Whakatane, Taupo, Kawerau and Opotiki Districts. Tauranga residents and ratepayers can join any of these libraries free. Our purpose To provide our community with easy access to a wide range of resources for information, leisure, and cultural enrichment.. About us Tauranga Libraries have collections of books, magazines, DVDs, music CDs, newspapers, large print and audio-books, and e-books. Most can be borrowed for free. Some of the latest items have a small charge for borrowing. There are approximately 326,000 items in the collection, There is internet access at all libraries for a small charge. Wifi is coming soon. Events and programmes include story times for pre-schoolers holiday programmes and class visits for children and teens cultural events for adults e.g. Poetry Night, Matariki and Maori Language Week, lunchtime speakers, book launches, Book Clubs. computer classes in the Learning Centre, and more. The Digital Library includes over 20 databases which provide access to the world’s information and e-audio books which can be downloaded. Approximately 1.6 million items are borrowed from the libraries each year. Over 900,000 visits were made to Tauranga libraries during the year, and another 130,000 visits made online. They come to browse, borrow, read, use the internet, find information, study, meet friends, attend an event or learn in a computer skills class. Libraries are no longer quiet places except in study areas. There’s too much going on!

With obstacles such as The Power Car Push, The Water Walk, The Hill Flag Grab and the Weight Mover - there is something to challenge all of us. Enter in the grade that best suits you: 1. Competitive: You like a real challenge and you want your team to be crowned 'The Sweat City Welly Champions'. At least 2 females per team. 2. Fun: You just love the chance to have some fun while getting a little sweat up with your friends. At least 2 females per team 3. Family: A great way for the kids to get involved on the challenges. Slightly easier. So get together Mum, Dad, Aunty, Uncle and the kids. At least 2 children per team.
