Wellington Lux
Lost? LUX 2013 can be divided by four key events that will captivate Wellington from June 21-24.
1. Everyone knows about the now famous Urban Alive, the city-wide breath of life to Wellington’s lane ways and waterfront. During each night of LUX, these public installations will alter the urban landscape the likes of which this city has never seen before.
2. The core of the festival lies in its Symposium (June 22-23). A ticketed event at City Gallery, this conference brings together leading local and international artists, designers, architects and researchers to exchange ideas on technology, sustainability, and creativity. Seating is limited to about 100 and this is bound to be an astounding event, so secure your tickets today! (http://wgtn-lux-festival.lilregie.com).
3. Matariki, the Maori New Year, will be celebrated at Te Papa throughout the 4 day festival with a series of stunning light installations and workshops that celebrate the beauty of Aotearoa: Teo Reo for New Zealand itself.
4. Bring Your Own Beamer (B.Y.O.B.) is a ‘potluck dinner of pixels and lights’ that will be taking place in a secret urban location (to be revealed!) on June 22, 8PM-11PM. Open to the public, this flash-mob will be composed of artists and their works where their only requirement is to somehow, in some way, project light.
