The Historic Paddle Steamer Waimarie, New Zealand’s last operating passenger Paddle Steamer, operating on New Zealand's longest navigable river - the Whanganui. Waimarie started service to Pipiriki in June 1900. She has been faithfully restored and is still steam powered and coal fired and can carry up to 150 passengers. Waimarie is fully operational and sails daily from Labour Weekend until April 30. During the winter months a reduced timetable is available.
