STARS Education Whanganui Inc provides Specialised Teaching, Assessments and Resources to students with Dyslexia and other LearningChallenges in the greater Whanganui and South Taranaki Area. At STARS Education Whanganui our teachers are all qualified, experienced classroom teachers, who have additional qualifications in the field of Specific Learning Disabilities. Additionally, our teachers participate in regular professional development workshops. Teachers and assessors are all police checked at regular intervals. All students are assessed thoroughly by our specially trained assessor before participating in the STARS programme. Our programmes are individually tailored to the specific needs of the student. Our methods are based on the latest in scientific and educational research. Generally, we work one-on-one with students. Our set-up is flexible to accommodate the needs of students and teachers. We work in schools, in our STARS rooms in Community House, and in teachers’ and students’ homes—both during and outside school hours. We run courses to better inform parents, classroom teachers, teacher aides and others about Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Disabilities We also provide social gatherings for students, families, teachers and other STARS supporters to meet in an informal and friendly way

National Organ Academy @ Collegiate The Chapel Restoration Foundation has established the New Zealand National Academy for Organists, annually at Wanganui Collegiate School from January 2013 Wanganui Collegiate is home to the annual National Organ Academy New Zealand's residential Academy for intensive instruction across a range of disciplines relating to pipe organ music. Colin Walsh's Vision of the National Organ Academy The Artistic Director in 2013 will be Colin Walsh, Organist Laureate of Lincoln Cathedral, and International Concert Organist. Tutorial staff will also be drawn from Collegiate's Foundation Music School, and the Australian and New Zealand College of Organists. Performance and Improvisation Classes will take place around the city (9 available Pipe Organs), centrally based from the Collegiate Chapel. Lectures and Masterclasses will also feature, around musicological areas, pedagogy, Historically Aware Performance, Concert & Recital Stagecraft, Essentials for the Liturgical Organist, Programming, etc. Students enrolled will also be given recital opportunities at numerous venues across the city as part of the Wanganui Festival of Organ Music 2013, successfully run since 2004.
