Safer Waitaki

Safer Waitaki

An innovative new community safety project known as ‘Safer Waitaki’ was formally launched on Tuesday 28 February with the signing of a letter of intent by Mayor Alex Familton. Signing is the first formal step towards realising the goal of Waitaki becoming a World Health Organisation designated International Safe Community. The Safer Waitaki project is a whole-of-community project with a focus on community safety. The project was initiated as a way to identify the key community safety priorities for the Waitaki District and provide a mechanism for the community to work together, maximising resources and expertise. The project will provide a structure from which a co-coordinated community and agency response to the issues that affects health and wellbeing can be achieved.
