In 1997 Nigel & Trish Dwyer came up with the idea to create a brand that would represent everyone who lived in Taranaki "Taranaki Hardcore". After being in the surf industry for over 30 years it had to not just be seen as a surf label but to be a label of the people an identity for all of us. It became a sense of pride bringing people together and to show outside communities how great Taranaki is with its majestic mountain great beaches, parks and the walkway. The brand says everything about the Taranaki Hardcore lifestyle bringing us a lot of recognition from people nationally and internationally. Over the next 12 years the brand grew and so did its diversity. We now supply everything from work wear to wine glasses to apparel for all ages and much more. We supply sports teams with playing strips and off field uniforms from rugby league through to darts. We also sponsor many professional athletes such as Isaac Luke, Clark Elice, Lisa Tamati and many other well know Taranaki sportsman. Taranaki Hardcore has been a major supporter and sponsor of motor sport, surf lifesaving, boxing, golf and many major events. We have recently constructed the Coastal Aquatics Learn to Swim Centre located at 2A Sunley Street in Westown, which will open in September 2012. This is a purpose built learn to swim facility that will operate two pools catering from six month old babies through to squad level swimmers. We have gone to great lengths to ensure the quality of this facility is at the forefront of the industry in regards to water treatment, temperature and the learning environment. Our development team were dedicated to creating the optimal learn-to-swim environment with minimal distraction. This is perfect for structured swimming lessons with the added benefits of privacy and focus. We offer: WATER BABIES We offer lessons for infants/toddlers and parents from 6 months through to 3 years. PRE-SCHOOL CLASSES We have four levels of pre-school classes which are suitable for ages 3-5 years, for swimmers who are independent in the water. The four levels range in ability, from new swimmers through to competent swimmers developing their strokes and breathing. Classes will be 25 minutes long and will be from 3.30-6pm. SCHOOL AGED CLASSES In our school aged programme we cater to children 5 years and above. Again there are four levels ranging from new swimmers through to developing swimmers who will be capable of swimming 50m of three different strokes as well as a well-developed knowledge of water safety. Classes will be 25 minutes long and will be from 3.30-6pm. MINI SQUADS Once our swimmers have achieved all of the learn-to-swim levels they will move into our squad programme, starting with our mini-squads at the Sunley Street facility. Here they will begin to develop their endurance, stroke technique along with the basics of squad swimming. Times available are 5pm-6pm
