February 2011’s earthquake caused extensive damage to Christchurch’s Central City. Much of the city as people knew it has changed forever.
Under the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011, the Christchurch City Council was given the responsibility of developing a Central City Plan which will guide the redevelopment of the central city.
The draft Central City Plan has been developed and written from the 106,000 ideas shared by our community during the six-week Share an Idea campaign.
The draft was adopted by Council on Thursday 11 August and put forward for public consultation from Tuesday 16 August for four weeks. The final Plan will be presented to the Minister for Earthquake Recovery in December 2011 for consideration and approval.
