We are looking for people to tell us their ideas about body hair! We (Dr Virginia Braun, and Dr Gareth Terry, Department of Psychology, The University of Auckland) are conducting an online survey to find out what younger people in New Zealand think about body hair, body hair removal and body hair alteration, and to understand what they do with their own body hair. If you’re between 18 and 35, we’d like to invite you to take part! The survey is online and should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. It involves both check-box and open ended questions, where you write what your answers in your own words. There are no right or wrong answers – we want to know what you think and do. We are also collecting demographic and behavioural information, so we have a sense of the people who took part in the research. All responses will be treated anonymously. I trained in Cornwall UK, moved to New Zealand in 2005, loved the lifestyle and so decided to stay permanently. When I am not working I enjoy time with my family, walking on the beach, reading, swimming and going to the gym. The reason I chose to be a Midwife was to help women have a positive experience of pregnancy and childbirth. My own life experiences provided an invaluable insight into the responsibility of becoming a parent at a young age. It is a privilege to care for women at such a special time in their lives. I feel that it is important to adopt a holistic view to care, which involves the physical, psychological and spiritual well-being of women and their family/whanau. I am sensitive, caring and respect the rights of women, empowering them to make informed choices. I’m there to be an advocate for them and apply the principles of cultural safety to the partnership. The New Zealand Social Statistics Network (NZSSN) was established to assist in the development of advanced social science research in the academic, government and private research sectors.
