We are a multigenerational church located in the heart of Christchurch city (currently meeting in Hillmorton due to the 2011 earthquakes). At South City, we love prayer, worship, Biblical teaching and equipping people to live out their faith in the different contexts God has placed them in. As a church, we want to create spaces where people can CONNECT as family, GROW as disciples and REACH those around them with the message of Christ.

February 2011’s earthquake caused extensive damage to Christchurch’s Central City. Much of the city as people knew it has changed forever. Under the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011, the Christchurch City Council was given the responsibility of developing a Central City Plan which will guide the redevelopment of the central city. The draft Central City Plan has been developed and written from the 106,000 ideas shared by our community during the six-week Share an Idea campaign. The draft was adopted by Council on Thursday 11 August and put forward for public consultation from Tuesday 16 August for four weeks. The final Plan will be presented to the Minister for Earthquake Recovery in December 2011 for consideration and approval.

Winnie Bagoes has been The Home of Gourmet pizza for approximately 18 years, in Christchurch. With humble beginnings at 82 Lichfield Street, seating about sixty people growing to a 180 seat restaurant situated at 194 Gloucester Street. This was our home from 2003 to 2010. With the unfortunate and devastating effects of the September 2010 quakes, saw Winnie Bagoes close, due to the unsafe condition of Winnie Bagoes House. Winnie Bagoes found alternative premises and relocated to the old Vic & Whale site, 772 Colombo Street. We were underway again by late October 2010, and we were enjoying trade a happy to be providing Christchurch's Best Gourmet Pizza experience to the people once again. The events of February 2011 with a second sudden jolt, ended our ideas of staying at the Colombo Street. With the loss of the second site within 4 months, had us all at our wits end, and wondering what to do!........ Persistence and determination allowed us to refocus our energies into finding a new site, to be part of the City rebuild.. and make this the Best City in the World!!! We are proud to announce that the new Winnie Bagoes City, will be operational again on Monday 27th May 2013. Phase one as we call it will see only the Bar and courtyard area operational, with a limited Menu, ( watch for the Builders Menu Post). The final phase will comprise, the main dining area, private dining rooms, full kitchen, and offices. this phase should be completed approximately 4 weeks later, with a Grand Opening date late June/early July. We can't wait to see you all back here at Winnies, We can't wait to show you around, we can't wait for your to experience NZ's Best Pizza once again, in the City!!! ......... and we have some surprises.. but you'll have to come and see it all happen,!!!!
