Season: Mid August to Mid May Club nights are held every Wednesday night at the BMX track, during daylight savings, with check in between 5pm & 5.45pm, racing underway at 6.00pm. Full safety gear is required to be on the track, and we can assist with the requirements. School Programmes: Our School Challenge is held every November with an open invitation to all Primary, Intermediate and High Schools in the area. Last year apporox 120 children from 11 schools competed for the covenant top 4 schools Trophies. Events / Tournaments: We also host Inter club meets – where club riders from all BMX Clubs in New Zealand are able to come to our track for a fun weekend of racing. The "Ride by the Tide" race meeting – December – is a Nationals qualifying event. Our club has been awarded the honour of hosting the 2012 North Island BMX Championship , the event will be held on the newly developed track, Pohe Island, Whangarei, attracting more that 600 riders over the weekend. Coach Education: The club offers members training on all basic BMX skills, rules and tips for riding. We have had regular visists from New Zealands National BMX Coach recently over the last few years to provide excellent training opportunities for our members.

The Whangarei Golf Club is situated only a 5 minute drive from the central city. Some of the course is set in native bush and can be a test for the serious golfer and still fun for the social player. The clubhouse has seating for up to 120, with full bar and catering service available. We are the perfect setting for weddings, birthdays and work socials. New Sprigs Bar / Golf shop pop in for a cold beer or hot coffee, great range of food and snacks with all the golf gear you need for a round of golf, we hire golf clubs, trundlers and Golf carts. BJJ permits a wide variety of techniques to take the fight to the ground after taking a grip. Once the opponent is on the ground, a number of maneuvers (and counter-maneuvers) are available to manipulate the opponent into a suitable position for the application of a submission technique. Achieving a dominant position on the ground is one of the hallmarks of the BJJ style, and includes effective use of the guard position to defend oneself from bottom, and passing the guard to dominate from top position with side control, mount, and back mount positions. This system of maneuvering and manipulation can be likened to a form of kinetic chess when utilized by two experienced practitioners.
