The Radio Network Taupo
The Radio Network Taupo is part of New Zealand’s market leader for radio advertising solutions. With the country’s leading radio stations and a team of dedicated professionals our business objective is to build superior customer relationships with our advertising partners, through delivering results driven accountable advertising solutions.
The Radio Network (TRN) has established itself as a major player in the New Zealand radio market. The Company owns a total of 129 radio stations operating in 26 markets across New Zealand including Taupo. It was formed following the sale of Radio New Zealand Commercial (a State Owned Enterprise) by the New Zealand Government in 1996.
Established in 1936 as the National Broadcasting Service, the organisation evolved through a number of strategic changes. These changes were driven by social and political considerations. Organisational growth was shaped by the social demands of listening audiences and the political reaction to those demands. The result was the formation of a network of commercial stations established in all cities and towns with a population over 5,000.
In November 1996, The Radio Network purchased the Auckland and Waikato stations of Prospect Ltd. This added the well-known Radio Hauraki and Easy Listening brands into the Group's existing stable of brands that included Newstalk ZB, Classic Hits, Radio Sport & ZM.
The Radio Network TRN is a wholly owned subsidiary of Australian Radio Network (ARN). The shareholders in ARN are Clear Channel Communications, USA and APN News & Media.
The Radio Network is a joint venture partner in The Radio Bureau, which represents almost all of the radio industry to advertising agencies and their clients.
