Young Innovator Awards 2013

Young Innovator Awards 2013

Level 2, 29 Grey Street,, Tauranga ,
Objectives: Create a platform for dynamically engaging with students and young professionals; Consistently lift the bar in both quality and quantity of entries each year; Provide the tools for teachers to effectively educate students in creativity and innovation; Establish a series of Innovation events around the awards each year that constructively engages with regional businesses; The development of the programme: This award was established to help inspire young students and people to become an innovator. Through learning the basics of the creating something and realising it. The programme has improved each year and has become a successful annual event that is well supported throughout Tuaranga. A key goal of the programme moving into the future would be to develop and enhance the resources available to students and teachers providing an in depth range of inspiring information that is easily accessed. Expanding the YIA to incorporate other young professionals adds another dimension and will drive greater engagement between regional businesses and educational institutions. Each year the focal point culminates around the judging and awards. This has typically involved an important guest, such as Ray Avery and Paul Callaghan, who has also shared their experiences and wisdom speaking at the awards. It is proposed this is expanded to involve a wider range of invited judges (from both our region and further afield) who can be bought together for the benefit of both the students, teachers and regional businesses.
