The Establishment of a Coastguard Unit often follows a local tragedy.
Most Coastguard Units have been started up by passionate locals following a local boating tragedy, determined that their local community would not suffer in a similar way again.
It is only recently that all Coastguard Units around the country have worked together under the one brand and common logo.
This has enabled the organisation to more effectively market itself to the boating public of New Zealand.
We are working to better spread the word about boating safety, and implementing safety initiatives that enhance safety for all New Zealanders when they participate in boating and water activities.
Our Vision is that migrants and refugees have the opportunity to learn English, to pursue aspirations for themselves and their families, and to participate in all aspects of life in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Flaxroots harnesses the community’s interest in solving local problems, contributing fresh ideas and increasing voluntary effort to generate new solutions. Communities take charge of developing a vision for their neighbourhood, translating it into community action plans which summarise locally identified priorities, goals, and aspirations.
It is a network of communities sharing information and resources, issues and initiatives. It is designed as a common space and approach bringing local leaders together to inform each other and their respective communities, yet retain autonomy and diverse identities. Flaxroots is an association presenting a concerted, mandated voice to Council on matters affecting local communities.
