Roycroft Trophy - Vintage Festival
This is racing from yesteryear, there are fields of Pre War & Pre 1960 Vintage Sports cars, Historic Single seaters, Sports Racing cars and Classic Saloon/ GTs joined by demonstrations from pre 1963 Vintage Motor Cycles and side cars.
It is the perfect event to take the family and relive this iconic era.
In addition to the racing there are infield displays of Vintage cars, Vintage Speedway midgets, plus demonstrations of the Ralph Watson WW1 aero engine, Steam and Stationary engines and we heard a rumour that a Tiger Moth may also be present.
There will be lunchtime parades and people’s choice awards. In Hampton’s pavilion there will also be a live Dixie land entertainment and a collection of trade stands with antiques, vintage clothing, books, art work and delectable cuisine.
In keeping with the theme drivers, riders and teams were in period clothing and lots join in and dressed in this stylish era.
Last year one of the stars was the 1906 Darraq racer, driven by Anne Thompson and the Austin 7 Duck now owned by Grant Cowie in Australia was brought back to New Zealand for competition and demonstration. This year the 1915 Stutz Indianapolis race car is also coming up from the Southwards Museum, this is the first time it has been seen on the track since 1934 and they are planning to race it!
This event must be experienced to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, the jazz band and the period atmosphere – not to be missed. This is a great family event with something to please everyone!
