Waitaria Bay School

Waitaria Bay School

5668 Kenepuru Road, Picton ,
Waitaria BaySchool is a decile 10 primary school catering for years 1-8. The current student roll is 10. Principal is Brenda Sutton with second teacher Odette Roper. Despite the school's remote location, Brenda endeavours to get the children involved in as many different activities as possible, including joining in with the other Pelorus cluster schools for events like winter sports, athletics, swimming and the annual speech competition. They also travel out to town for events like the Science Fair and Music Festival. Being in the Sounds means many unique opportunities for education, such as the Kereru Kitchen - an area across the road from school which, with the help of local residents, parents and teachers, the children are landscaping and planting with native trees and plants. The school has also been "donated" a mussel line as a fund-raiser; the children have been out in boats monitoring the seeding of "their" line and are now watching its progress towards harvest.

Avonside Girls' High School

180 Avonside Drive, Avonside, Christchurch ,
Avonside today is an innovative, modern school within a traditional framework. Our history provides a sound foundation for an exciting future. The motto, 'Summa Sequere' translated as 'Aim at the highest - seek to attain the best`, embodies the fundamental aim of our school life - to show all who pass through the school that the greatest satisfaction can be gained, not by seeking hollow pleasure, but by devoting ourselves wholeheartedly to whatever we undertake, and by appreciating what is deepest and most worthwhile. May 'Summa Sequere' not only inspire pupils while they are at school, but may it influence their thoughts and their steps long after school days are over." (referenced from official school website)

Bethlehem College 25th Anniversary

24 Elder Lane, Tauranga ,
Bethlehem Campus is turning 25 and we would love to invite past students and supporters to celebrate this significant milestone with us July 5-7, 2013 at the Campus. While the weekend events are still being confirmed, a team of organisers, led by founding principal Graham Preston and co-ordinated by Luisa Schroder want to invite you to save the date for what will be a weekend of activities, remembrance and celebration. Currently, the weekend programme will include Friday evening sports games, a Saturday afternoon mix and mingle; an evening concert featuring past and present BC students in the PAC Auditorium, a church celebration service on Sunday afternoon and various past v present sports games. The weekend will also launch a book "GREAT FUTURES" which recaps the incredible story of the Christian Education Trust written by Mrs Jeanette Knudsen who was the Promotions Manager from the very start - only leaving 2 years ago and since then she has written the book. Our Anniversary Weekend will celebrate the tremendous growth on the campus – so make a plan to be with us in Bethlehem in July 2013 to see what’s happened since you’ve left. The Christian Education Trust has promoted the growth of Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary and International Education and we look forward to a chance to celebrate all that God has done at and through this special place. More details will be added to this page as they are confirmed but for now, spread the word and save the date. Registration and cost details will be available soon. We look forward to seeing you! Any queries, contact Luisa Schroder on l.schroder@beth.school.nz.

St Pius X Catholic School - Melville

57 Pine Ave, Melville, Hamilton ,
St Pius X School is a Catholic school situated in the suburb of Melville in Hamilton near Waikato hospital where a number of our parents work. The school is behind the Church in a back section with excellent grounds. Our school is often referred to as a country school in the city. St Pius X School was founded in 1958 by the Mission Sisters and caters for both boys and girls from New Entrants through to Year 8. The school is multi-cultural and we are enriched by at least 14 different cultures. We have a very good ESOL programme with experienced staff in this area. The maximum roll has just been raised to 200. This has taken pressure off our waiting list although the non-preference roll is full. One of the strengths of our school is its community feel. The staff know all the children and there are often whole school activities such as singing, prayer assemblies and fitness. We are a welcoming school and encourage parents and parishioners to be involved where possible. We are proud to be Catholic. We start each day with a prayer assembly and the Religious Education programme is taught from Years 1-8. The gospel values and the values of our Founding Order are an integral part of our school. Our mission statement sums up for us what we are about for our students 'To learn love, To Learn Wisdom, The Way We Are. Jane Rutherford Principal
