Our earliest roots go back as far as 1881 when S T Fitzherbert and Gifford Marshall were partners. J P Watt was here in the 1890s and later in partnership with G W Currie and J B Jack. In the 1930s V B Willis was celebrated for a successful appeal to the Privy Council. Marshall Izard and Wilson, Currie Jack and Davis, and Turnbull and Willis combined in the 1960s as first Nowell Izard and then Max Willis went to be Judges. J B Jack had been a Judge of the Maori Land Court until 1917, and was still in the firm together with his son Sir Roy Jack in the 1970s. Sir Roy was then MP and Speaker of Parliament. Colin Riddet, Bob Wallis and John Tripe, were partners from the 1970s. John Tripe became a Consultant in 2012, and Mark Bullock became the firm's Principal.
