Who is HITO? HITO was created in 1993 as the recognised Industry Training Organisation (ITO) for the hairdressing and barbering industry. In 2008, the beauty industry was included in this coverage. HITO is industry owned and supported by the Tertiary Education Commission. HITO administer the apprenticeship programme, including the management of on-and off-job training. We liaise with the industries that we cover to set the standards of New Zealand's only nationally (and internationally) recognised barbering, beauty and hairdressing qualifications. HITO offer national certificates in barbering, beauty, hairdressing, salon support, and salon management. It is also HITO's role to ensure that industry training standards are maintained and the information and skills being taught are correct and relevant.

They'll guide you through the computing skills needed for today's increasingly technology-based society. At our Free4U classrooms in Henderson and Albany, our facilitators are on hand to assist you as you learn. We provide you with text books, which must be returned at the end of the session, and take-home notes. There are no exams and no pressure – start with a course that suits you and complete each course at your own pace. Our Free4U computer courses include Getting Started in Computing (for those new to computers), Keyboarding, Internet and Email, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Access. The allocated time for completing each course is 18 hours (12 x 90 minute sessions), except for our Getting Started in Computing course which is 15 hours (10 x 90 minute sessions). You can finish before the allocated completion time, but if you require longer than the allocated time, you will need to enrol in the course again.
