Te Newhanga Community Centre is fortunate to be located in a vibrant and creative community. Our aim to provide an affordable venue for community groups to hold their educational, recreational, supportive, and social events. The Centre is owned and subsidised by the Kapiti Coast District Council; but is run independently by a Management Team of local residents, users of the Centre, and Kapiti Coast District Council advisors. It is a community facility for the local community. We are centrally located near the Paraparaumu council buildings, public library, and across the road from Coastlands shopping mall. There is ample parking for both cars and coaches along with various bus routes that stop nearby. The train station is also within easy walking distance. Organised by the Hutt City Council, the Petone Carnival is one of the premier events on the Wellington calendar. Kicking off at 12pm and finishing up with a bang with the Pelorus Trust Fireshow at 7.30pm, 2012's Carnival will be packed pull of old favourites along with some exciting new additions! Set along the picturesque foreshore of Petone, between the Settlers Museum and the Petone Wharf, the Carnival is never an event to be missed- and this year's event is no exception. As well as the familiar fire sculptures, local entertainment and culinary delights, this year's Carnival will include a host of brand new features! But the fun doesn't end there- this year's event will once again be rounded off with the spectacular Wellington fireworks display, which showcases some of the best pyrotechnics that Wellington has to offer. Keep your eyes on the Petone Wharf at 7.30pm for this.

We’re a community and parent run non-profit organization with the goals of keeping our kids safe in the water and building their fitness through swim coaching.
