Bar Medusa
Medusa - the old Hole in the Wall is Wellington’s only dedicated alternative music bar, catering to all bands and all styles – ska, funk, rock, punk, metal… you name it!
Located on Vivian Street, between Cuba Street and Marion Street (previously Valve Bar), Bar Medusa is in the middle of Wellington’s creative sector, and is the place to see international and local bands if you’re passionate about alternative and underground music.
At Medusa we aim to create an environment that supports and encourages local musicians and to bring international acts to Wellington crowds. We try to keep it as affordable as possible for local musicians to play here and will do our best to accommodate all acts and all requests. Medusa can also be hired out for private functions.
Bar Medusa is a fully equipped venue suitable for many different gigs. We host dance gigs, metal and rock gigs, hip-hop, jazz and anything in between. The size of the venue suits all occasions and the sound system has been created perfectly for the size of it. Medusa has a full PA system, lighting rig, smoke machine and house sound engineer.
