Tecfest 2013

Tecfest 2013

1 Waitapu Road, Turangi ,
This May will see the birth of TecFest NZ, and hopefully the beginning of an annual event held every year for the divers of New Zealand. The aim of this event is to bring together those that are already technical divers and those who have an interest in this fast expanding part of the industry. This event has been the idea of Brent McFadden, owner and instructor at Go Dive Marlborough. A Technical instructor and keen technical diver, Brent wanted to create an event to promote this exciting area of scuba diving. TecFest NZ 2013 will be held at the beautiful Lake Taupo from the 10th-12th May. The event is open to all divers, dive centers and clubs that have an interest in technical diving. It will be a great opportunity to promote technical diving, for you to get to know other technical divers, try-out kit and listen to experienced and informative guest speakers. There will also be plenty of diving on offer and the opportunity to actually try some of the techniques discussed.

River Vineyard and River Restaurant, Turangi, Taupō

River Vineyard and River Restaurant, Turangi, Taupō

2/134 Old Mill Lane, Grace Road, Turangi ,
Tongariro River state is a boutique family-owned Vineyard and Restaurant situated in a unique location of exceptional natural beauty. On the edge of New Zealand’s oldest National Park and World Heritage area the Tongariro National Park is recognized for it’s important Maori cultural association’s as well as its outstanding Volcanic features. Tongariro is one of only a handful of sites worldwide to be given dual World Heritage status. Situated a short walk to the Tongariro River and some of the best fly-fishing in New Zealand if not the world makes Tongariro River Estate unique, indeed the much loved River Wine Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Rose are grown on the stony flats of the old Tongariro river bed and capture the essence of this truly beautiful area. Some times it is a good idea to let our customers do the talking for us.... "Seriously good food in a Tongariro vineyard" "......fabulous new restaurant nestled into the vineyard on one of our frequent visits to the Tongariro region. It has great food, ambience, casual setting on the deck overlooking the vineyard.” "The coffee was excellent, Ponsonby standard!” "Stunning setting with great cuisine, I hope they can keep this up." "We went to the opening night of the River Wines Restaurant on Grace Road last night for dinner and it was the best meal and evening in memory locally.” "This is a serious cuisine opportunity tucked into one of our favourite parts of the world.” ".....the Chef came out and asked us how the food was, great service, as good as anything you would find in Auckland” "We were so impressed with brunch that we returned the following evening for dinner and were not disappointed.” "River Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris were a pleasant surprise as they proved to be quality wines” "The fish was cooked to perfection with contrasting and complimentary flavours; asparagus and lemon caper sauce.” "The lamb shank was the best I have ever tasted. It was exquisitely tender and the subtle Moroccan flavours were well complemented by the falafel.” "We thought River pinot noir 2005 a beautifully balanced wine” ".....the restaurant is fabulous and we look forward to many days of slouching on the deck in the sun quaffing River Wines” ".......the poached pear with chocolate was to die for!” Don’t believe the feedback? Why don’t you come and see for yourself what all the fuss is about. From casual coffee and a chat with friends, to brunch and a glass of wine, or a romantic dinner with that special some one or the whole family you won’t be disappointed.
