Saint Paul's Catholic School Richmond, Nelson

Saint Paul's Catholic School Richmond, Nelson

63 Salisbury Road , Richmond ,
The Board of Trustees and Staff welcome you to our school community. We at Saint Paul’s believe that in order to develop fully in an ever changing society, each of us needs to have a genuine belief in his or her own self worth, based on our faith in God’s love for each of us. We need to be thinking, caring members of our family, our school and the wider community, knowing that we can make a difference. At Saint Paul’s we endeavour to provide a secure, happy Christian learning environment where each person is challenged to develop wholeness of person, where love of God, love of neighbour and love of self are motivating forces. In this task we work as a whole community, Parish Priests, Board of Trustees, Staff and you the parents of our children. We need to work together as a community, supporting one another, if we are to achieve the best for our children Enrolments and Attendance Dues If your family is new to the school, an appointment is made for parents to meet with the Principal. An appointment will also need to be made to meet our Parish Priest, Father David Gruschow if you are a Richmond family, or Father Maurice Carmody if you are a family from the Stoke area. We encourage new entrant children, five year olds, to visit their new class over several weeks prior to commencing school full time. We feel this important to allow the children to familiarise themselves with their new environment. The class teacher will telephone you to make arrangements for this to happen. At Saint Paul’s School we are well aware of the importance of working in partnership with parents. We recognise parents as the child’s first educators. As in all Catholic Schools in New Zealand, attendance dues are paid to the Diocese and an information booklet explaining this is available from the School. Costs Saint Paul’s has a number of activity fees; we believe in providing the best opportunities for learning and engagement so have professional swimming coaches work with children for ten sessions at the cost of $6 a session. We also like children to enjoy cultural activities such a storytellers and Maori culture groups, take part in educational trips and go to sports events. Rather than collect this in small amounts throughout the year we ask for an up-front cost of $11.25 a term. Finally one of our pods of 16 laptops is funded by the Parishes Wattie Jenkins Trust but the other incurs a cost of $20 in Years 1 - 4, $35 per child in Years 5 & 6 and $150 for children in Years 7 & 8 This has been calculated on current usage of the computers. If you could pay by lump sum or organise an automatic payment before March 31st there will be a 10% discount.
