Bikram Yoga Christchurch is one of hundreds of official Bikram Yoga schools around the globe that offers the Bikram Method of yoga exclusively.
Bikram Yoga Christchurch was founded by Jo Hampton, and is now solely owned by Kate Burford since 2008.
Kate’s dream is to have a special place that focuses on introducing this specific type of yoga to new practitioners and serving the many diverse students that diligently follow this discipline.
Since then, what was only a dream has become a thriving community that supports growth and positive change.

The mission of Bikram Yoga Christchurch is to bring improved health and well-being to its members by providing the highest quality Bikram Yoga instruction in a comfortable, convenient, safe, and attractive location. We are dedicated to serving our community of people with excellence, and to fostering an environment conducive to learning, inspiration, friendship and self-realization.
Practiced in a specially heated room, Bikram Yoga is a unique series of 26 Hatha Yoga postures and 2 breathing exercises. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles ligaments and joints needed for the next posture, as well as stimulating the organs, glands and nerves, moving oxygenated blood to the entire body and restoring all systems to a healthy working order.
The benefits of Bikram Yoga are unlimited. It reduces stress, improves sleep, develops muscle tone and builds strength and stamina, it helps weight reduction, improves circulation, boosts the metabolism and strengthens the immune system. Strength and flexibility are worked together to create harmony in the body. The heat facilitates
stretching, prevents injury and promotes sweating which aids detoxification.
