Moved about 7 years ago to a delightful old timber building, erected by the US Forces in the late 40's in Gracefield, Lower Hutt. Offices up in the rafters, just like I always wanted. Lots of charm, space and history, easy to find too. Complete with a sprinkler system, alarms and cameras. The complex is called "Gracelands" due to having had a number of film industry related tenants over the years. Sounds good to us! Well 8 years have gone by quickly and we are now off on a new adventure, up to the sunny and warm Kapiti coast. Also into another iconic building; The Old Statue Bargain Barn under the statue of the Virgin Mary on the hill overlooking Paraparaumu. Number 20 Tongariro St, Paraparaumu. If you are coming from the south, turn right at the lights on State Highway 1, first left, first right and you are there. If you are coming from the north, go straight ahead by the boat shop and take the second on the right. So easy! Originally built in the early 50’s for Plylite Boats and from the late 60’s was the biggest second hand shop in Australisia. We will be sharing the showroom with Peter Appleton of Appleton Pianos, a third generation piano business. What a blend, like peaches and cream. Could be a first in the world. Classic Racers Ross raced his Fiat 125T for several seasons with some success, including a win at the Whittakers MG Classic meeting as well as winning the Surgery Intermarque Sprint series 3 years running in the unmodified class up to 1800cc. Then he and GT built-up an MGBGTV8 because Ross wanted to go faster, which he did. The MG will do 1 min 23 secs around Manfeild, whereas the Fiat's best is a 1.30. Ross' desire to go historic means that the MG is for sale to a good home. An ideal way for anyone to get started into classic racing. Ross has been involved with classic cars since his 1st ride in his grandfathers new "Aunty" Rover 90. Ross is well known for organising The Link All British Car Rally for the British High Commission in 1997, which raised funds for the Save The Children Fund, and the annual Starship Car Trek for the childrens' hospital. We are organising a regular run (approx. once a month) to interesting places; hopefully to some places you haven't been before. Our aim is to create a classic family who meet from time to time to enjoy our cars and each other's casual company and camaraderie. Our runs are informal and gentle. We have frequent stops which are often impromptu, to allow cars to gather up into convoy if they have been split up in traffic. All our classic cars are encouraged to travel at normal speed in normal traffic.
