Built in the town of Motu, 1913 ,the Hotel was part of one of the largest hotels in Australasia. The portion that now occupies the site at Matawai is only a third of the original building. It was moved board by board to where it sits today and an apartment, annex and drovers cottages were also built at the time it was shifted in the 30s.
