Hutt Valley High School is a state coeducational secondary school located in central Lower Hutt, New Zealand. A total of 1569 students from Years 9 to 13 (ages 12 to 18) attend the school as of April 2013, making the school the second-largest in the Wellington metropolitan area, just 15 students behind Wellington College.SchoolHutt Valley High has a widely varied curriculum, offering many languages, sciences and almost the entire spectrum of the National Curriculum. The local Tararua mountains have been explored by many groups from the school as part of the Tramping Club and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. In the 1940s, a teacher died in a snowstorm, and several other students have since lost their lives in these mountains.

Bikram Yoga is a style of yoga that consists of a series of 26 postures (asanas) carried out in a heated room during a 90 minute class. Bikram Yoga is for everyone. Each class is open to beginners and follows the same format whether it is your first class or whether you have been practising for many years. It does not matter how well you do each posture, only that you try the right way. Bikram Yoga was developed by Bikram Choudhury who was born in Calcutta in 1946. Bikram began practising yoga when he was 4 and by the age of 13 he won the National India Yoga contest. At 17, Bikram sustained a serious injury to his knee during a weight-lifting accident and with the guidance of Guru Bishnu Ghosh used the healing powers of yoga to rehabilitate himself to full health. All the teachers at Hot Bikram Yoga are fully certified. To be certified, teachers must successfully complete a rigorous, training program run by Bikram at his headquarters in Los Angeles.
