Challenge Details
Check in at lease twice per week in from April 8th 2013, and let your support network see you on your journey and know what is going on with you. Here are some suggestions for what you can talk about:
Post your goals for the month.
How many times did you see your trainter? How many more press-ups did you do this week? Let us celebrate your success.
How are you doing with your eating? Keep a food dairy on your XT Fitnes 20 Week Challenge. Post the recipes you using facebook. Post photos of your meals.
How do your feel? Are you having any emotional eating problems. Is the stress in your life making you want to eat.
Vent about your challenges. Be honest about the struggles you're having. We all face issues. It's good to be able to give voice to them.
Encourage your fellow challeges on there quest. It's hard to put yourself out there and share your weight release and health struggles with the world. As your fellow 20 Week Challengers share their lives, show them some love and encouragement.
Just a reminder that this small commitment to post the good, bad and ugly was a huge part of your success. It give you a place to face the emotional side of your goals: To celebrate your losses, cry about your gains and vent when I felt like whining.
We can can be a support network to help these individuals on the journey and to help each other by being accountable and honest.

Sedentary lifestyle
High cholesterol, high blood pressure, high sugar levels (WOF HEALTH CHECK) and i was at a 'HIGH' risk for many or all chronic and cardiovascular diseases.
WHANAU.........
My parter (Paki) was expecting (Kiwa).
2 young daughters (Mariah and Esance).
MY WHANAU HISTORY.........
My father passed away at 53 years old. He was diagnosed with bowel cancer and after 3 months after the procedure, he passed away. I was 10 years old.
EATING HABITS.........
NO VEGETABLES, FRUIT AND Cereal
Fast food, KFC, Pizza Hut, Chinese, 6 Pack of pies with a loaf of bread, Milo with a load of bread and peanut butter and jam, chocolate, fizzy drinks, bakery food (doughnuts, cakes and more pies). Just never cooked a meal, it was always take outs.
WAKE UP CALL.........
Paki and I went to see my GP for a health check on September 2003. My Gp checked my blood pressre (HIGH), checked my weight (138kg) and took bloods for blood glucose and cholesterol. My GP knew of my family history and informed me if I keep travelling down this pathway, your family will be standing over your grave. I then turned to Paki who always loved me the way I looked and never judged me on my weight, was very concerned as she knew how hard it has been for me not to have my dad around all these years. That was my wake up call, I WANT TO BE AROUND FOR MY CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, because that is what my father missed out on.
STARTING OFF SLOW.........
I didn't go and spend money to join a gym or a bootcamp, I started off small. It was spring and we were living in Mount Eden, Auckland at that time, so every morning and evenings too, I would grab both my girls (1 in the pram, 1 in the front pack) and walk for 60-90 minutes. I started on the flat roads and then slowly but surely, started hitting my Mighty Mount Eden Hills. I also had a project to do at home. It was to get a 1/2 acre amazon jungle and I needed it to change it to a area that my family to could use and entertain whanau and friends.
The hardest part for me was nutrition. Again I started slowly. I started eating a variety of vegetables and fruit, having home cooked prepared meals, treated myself once of week (treat day), and I gave up or replaced one bad treat every 4-6weeks. I started with the hardest treat to give up.....BREAD!!. Been a Maori or if you have been around our culture, we love our bread. We eat bread with ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING! Porridege, brown sugar, cream and bread, pies and bread, noodles, cornbeef and bread, fishnchips and bread. I'm sure you get it now. BREAD, BREAD, BREAD. And then in 4-6 weeks I will bring bread back, but it had to be wholegrain and I had a limit per week. And so on....white rice to brown rice etc.... Portions sizes was the next mountain climb. My culture stack our dinner plates. I had to purchase smaller plates and having 6 smaller meals a day. Man I can tell you that was a challenge.
NOW IN 2013.........

Very active - with my partner and my 3 loving girls.
(WOF CHECK) as of December 2012, all levels are the healthy or normal range.
Finally there is no magic pill, fancy machines, or a special diet that will help you through your journey. What helped me was my loving family that supported my throughout my journey. When times were hard and challenging for me, I focussed on my goal, why and who am I was doing this for, and I was always looking at the long term journey.
Thank you for taking time to read my journey.
Kind regards
