Tonic

Tonic

239 Kamo Road, Whangarei ,
Tonic Restaurant opened in December 1998 with Brad’s vision of wanting to bring a new standard of dining to the area. Having worked in a number of larger busy establishments, he planned to open a small intimate Restaurant, with an emphasis on creating a more personal dining experience. Within a year the Restaurant was receiving National Awards, and recognised as one of Northlands Finest. Brad creates and changes the menu every four or five months, so as to use fresh seasonal produce, which are sourced locally where possible. Old favourites such as French Onion Soup and Toffee Creme Brulee continue to feature in Menus due to their popularity. Tonic is open every night, with a Set Menu on Sundays, and bookings are recommended.

Clydesdale Museum Fire Brigade

Mystery Creek, Hamilton ,
Originally a sub-section of the Agricultural Museum at Mystery Creek, the Clydesdale Museum Fire Brigade expanded and opened its own Station in 1978. Since then, we have restored a number a vehicles with the most notable being a 1921 Dennis which was stationed at Napier and was active during the 1931 earthquake. On display at present we also have: - 1952 Ford ex Katikati - 1959 Landrover ex Tauranga - Athenree - 1938 Chevrolet ex Gisborne - Dannevirke - Ormondville - 1962 Bedford TTL ex Hamilton - 1935 Ford V8 ex Hamilton - 1961 International ex Papa Aroha - 1942 Colonial Motor Company Ford trailer pump ex Otorohanga - 1966 Coventry Climax Godiva trailer pump ex Helensville When possible we like to get our appliances out on display, attending parades, centennials and open days to lift our profile and share our hard work with the public. New members are always welcome! No previous fire-fighting experience is necessary as we are not an active brigade, just a keen interest in vintage fire appliances and their restoration.
