Students will choose our classes over other schools every time! The philosophy is simple. We strive to make performances that the children are proud to be part of, rather than 'shamed out'. Our productions are small, which means as a parent, when you come to see your child perform, that's what you get... your child (as opposed to a two hour show, with 100 children, and your child is featured for about a minute). Our small class sizes ensure that you are getting what you paid for... your child learning to act!
What is method acting?
Derived from many sources, method acting uses complintary techniques that, in short, make an actor's performance simulate real life. It is the technique most used by professional actors... famous examples being Jonny Depp, Marlon Brando, and pretty much anyone who is anyone. Christchurch Drama School differs from other children's schools as we teach the professional approach from the word Go. This ensures that children who wish to pursue full time performing arts training, or a career, are at an advantage. Having already learned the techniques, there is not a difficult process of 'unlearning' amateur theatre traits that can hinder professional progress.
