Learn2Sail Sailing School, Lyttelton Christchurch

c/o 150 Hoon Hay Road, Hoon Hay, Christchurch ,
Canterbury Charters Ltd (learn2sail) operates closley with Canterbury Maritime Training. The Learn2sail sailing school began operating alongside the powerboat courses offered by Maritime Training in 2008, at the urging of Dudley Jackson. The school took over adult learn-to-sail courses from Canterbury Sailing School in early 2008, and has flourished under his direction. Joining the experienced Dudley, Peter Marshall and Mark Quail are occasional tutors on the sail training keeler Good Point, a lovingly crafted timber Whiting 30, rigged for racing. Our instructors hold the necessary commercial qualifications. (Local Launch Operator at minimum) and have thousands of sea hours between them.

Redcliffs School Fair

Redcliffs School Fair

c/o Van Asch College, Truro Street, Sumner, Christchurch ,
You might have seen Redcliffs School on TV. Our school sits beneath a cliff that collapsed in the Christchurch earthquakes. These children have had a rough deal with their schooling last year and this year due to the devastation at their school site from the earthquakes. School was closed for over 5 weeks, the children were in shared rooms for 6 weeks (6 classes in a school hall) and they are still away from their school site. We are currently site sharing with Van Ash College for the Deaf(third move so far in 2011). This year we are unable to hold our famous Redcliffs School Fair (our major fund-raiser), as we are off site. This year we are determined to have our famous school fair.So come join in the fun on Sunday 16th September 2012 at Ferrymead Park, Heathcote, from 11am to 3pm. If you are looking for more information you can also go to http://www.redcliffs.school.nz We are very grateful to all our kind sponsors. Thank you all so much for supporting the children at Redclifffs School.
Redcliffs on Sea Community Information Centre

Redcliffs on Sea Community Information Centre

Cnr Beachville and Main Roads, Redcliffs, Christchurch ,
The Redcliffs Information Centre was established by local residents Vicki and Peter Hyde on 26 February and is coordinated by Fletcher Stanton. Initially the information centre consisted of a large noticeboard on the footpath outside Redcliffs New World. The Redcliffs School Board of Trustees became aware of the group and provided a caravan and when a degree of normality returned to Redcliffs with the return of electricity, the Redcliffs Information Centre established itself in a small office on the corner of Main and Beachville Roads. The information centre began as a place for local residents to access information about evacuations, location of portable toilets, water supplies, and the like, and donated foodstuffs and grocery items were provided at a time where few people remained in their homes, and those who did, did not have water, telephone, or electricity. It serves a broader purpose – providing support for local residents as they returned to the area (and many have), a place for a chat in a friendly welcoming environment.
