After working extremely hard to establish our very popular monthly Parnell Artisan Craft Market at the Jubilee Hall in 2012 we were initially disappointed to have our rental agreement abruptly terminated by Parnell Community Trust without explanation. However we have since discovered great benefits to relocating and are delighted to announce we're now also able to offer a superb selection of the very best local produce and gourmet foods. We'll also of course continue to showcase the same high level of fresh, original NZ talent (new products, inventions, innovations etc are always welcome, see below for contact details!) as well as the very best in NZ designed/made items from well respected local artists and designers (styles to suit everyone from high street fashion, iconic Kiwiana, vintage & retro, to novelty & kitsch) plus a small selection of high quality imported items. Our beautiful house, right at the end of New Zealand's most famous surf beach at South Piha, is available for short term holidays, weddings and functions. Commuting distance from central Auckland through the Waitakere ranges (Auckland's pristine regional water catchment area), Piha is a place of power and beauty, with a long beach of fine black sand and spectacular rugged coastline, and a small, environmentally sensitive community. A mecca for swimmers, surfers and picnickers in summer, in winter it is quite isolated, although surfing and fishing enthusiasts visit year round (with average winter daily maximum temperatures around 15 centigrade (60F); summer around 27 (80F)). Built in 1897, Ponsonby Community Centre was initially a school. It was purchased by Auckland City Council in 1958 for use as a hall. The Centre has been rebuilt and completely refurbished since a fire in August 1999. Since 1990, the Centre has offered expanded services including OSCAR (out of school care & recreation) programmes, subsidised adult education and a pre-school as well as being a venue for hire. This Centre is owned and subsidised by Auckland City Council and is run independently by a Board of local residents and users of the Centre. This is a community facility for the local community. Your interest and input are needed by providing ideas and feedback on activities. Available Services: PONSY KIDS PRESCHOOL: Ponsy Kids aims to provide a secure, supportive, stimulating, friendly and welcoming environment for preschool aged children. A whanau atmosphere is important to us, our activities are catered for to meet the individual needs of each child. Safety of the children at the centre is paramount.
