Founded in the 19th century, Waitemata RC is a club with a lot of history, and was the club of Darcy Hadfield, New Zealand's first rowing Olympian. We're now located on the Te Atatu Peninsula, with Brian Hawthorne, ex-national selector and Olympic coach as our head coach. Sunday league football team founded in 1990 by Tim Banner. Tim and Tapper ran the team for the first 13 years. In 2003 CJ and Tapper ran the team. Tapper retired in 2010, the team is currently being run by Michael Semp, CJ and Stu Richardson. Started playing social football on a sunday not in an official league. They played socially for 12 years and then in 2002 joined the ASFA 4th Division. First year in offcial ASFA 4th division finished the league in 1st place with only one loss. Also made the cup final for 3rd and 4th division and finished 2nd. Following year won 3rd division undefeated after being promoted. They played in the 2nd division for 5 years then being relegated down to 3rd div. They are still currently playing now in the 3rd division. For the last 6 years the team go down to Taurunga to play in the Taurunga City United Tournament. The highest they have finished in the competition is in the top 16 in 2011. They qualified through their group undefeated.
