Prebbleton Childcare & Education Centres

Prebbleton Childcare & Education Centres

542 Springs Road, Prebbleton ,
Prebbleton Nursery & Education Centre: We welcome babies as early as 12 weeks old to our purpose built Nursery. We feel it is important that your baby/toddler has a ‘Primary Caregiver’ who will establish a trusting, responsive and affectionate relationship with your child. Once your baby/toddler experiences physical and emotional security with their primary caregiver there will be opportunities for them to bond with their peers and other teachers. Our under two children have a separate inside and outside area. This ensures their freedom to explore and interact with teachers and the environment with no interference from older children. It is a place where parents are assured their child will be safe and secure. Children under two years of age have a daily record for you to take home. This records their sleeps, food, nappy change times, daily activities and special moments. Our Nursery caters for children up to the age of 3½ years old. For our over two year old children the emphasis is on learning activities that are lots of fun and at the same time build character, self-confidence and self-esteem. Your child will experience an environment where their emotional well-being is nurtured. At this age children are busy learning new things about themselves and about those around them. They have fun learning social skills while being encouraged to learn with and alongside others. Listening to stories, singing, playing games, doing art & enjoying messy play help develop language and vocabulary, new concepts, movement, fine motor and sensory motor skills. Prebbleton Nursery curriculum supplies the structure and guidance needed throughout your child’s centre play to accomplish this. We also individually plan for each child in our care and provide activities and experiences that build on their strengths and interests. Prebbleton Childcare & Education Centre: Prebbleton Preschool caters for children aged 3½ to 5 years of age. We offer a large, well-resourced environment with a rural feel for your child to play, learn and grow. The emphasis of our programme is on learning activities that are lots of fun and at the same time build character, confidence and self-esteem. Our curriculum is value-based, encouraging kindness, respect for others and respect for our environment. Development of social skills is important at our centre, along with the following: to be able to work co-operatively with others and to understand basic concepts about rules, rights and fairness is essential knowledge for all children. Our curriculum is based on Te Whaariki New Zealand’s Early Childhood Curriculum. All individual child plans and programme planning is linked to this. There are four broad principles at the centre of our curriculum; · Empowerment - empowers the child to learn and grow. · Holistic Development - reflects the holistic way children learn and grow. · Family & Community – is an integral part of the early childhood curriculum. · Relationships - Children learn through responsive and reciprocal relationships with people, places and things. Our curriculum is designed to prepare your child for school and lifetime learning. The individual child planning approach allows your child to progress at his or her own pace while giving your child the opportunity to indulge in their strengths. We also offer a structured ‘Four year old Programme’ to assist in preparing your child for school, this includes visits to Prebbleton School. South Hornby Kindergarten: Hornby Childcare & Education centre is a Nursery & Preschool combined. Our low numbers (licensed for 25 children) make this centre unique by today’s standards. Prebbleton Kindergarten: Prebbleton Kindergarten caters for children ages 2.5 through to 5 years of age. We are open from 8.00am through to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Opened in January 2011 - we are brand new! The emphasis of our programme is on learning activities that build knowledge, character, confidence & self-esteem. Many of these learning activities are spurred through the children's interests - flourishing into project work that takes on many exciting angles of learning. The children's strengths and interests will be encouraged on a daily basis - and regular programme planning will reflect this. We also provide core activities available everyday on session i.e. music, books, blocks, puzzles, play dough, art, messy play, family play, water play, sandpit, physically active play etc. Prebbleton Kindergarten will foster a strong relationship with Prebbleton School and will facilitate 4 year old school visits. This makes the transition from Kindergaten to school much smoother - as children know what to expect! We reccommend that your 4 year old child attends 5 mornings a week before they start school. This will prepare them for the routines expected when attending primary school. The five mornings help you child develop the routine of getting to school by the start time, build up stamina to last out the busy school day, to self monitor their intake of food and continue to develop their social skills. For more information on the Kindergartens daily programme please phone or email and we will post you out an information booklet.
