BOOKING AVAILABILITY: 15 Dec to 13 Jan (peak time): $350 NZD per night – min 5 days 14 Jan to 3 Feb: $250 NZD per night – min 5 Days Onemana Beach, Coromandel peninsular Just 5mins walk to a real gem of a beach. Stunning ocean views from just about every room, also from the large deck and flat lawns. The two-story house is perched on a ridge above Onemana Village and has a commanding outlook. The 180˚ views sweep from the Coromandel Pinnacles, across the village – and focus on the sandy surf beach, and a sea dotted with boats and islands. This special spot is both ground-zero for a raft of exciting summer activities for adults and kids – and one that also encourages lazy hours sharing some music and a drink with friends. An entertainer’s delight – and the place for a memorable summer holiday! Onemana is a beautiful and quiet coastal village that’s 10 minutes drive from the many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants of Whangamata. The village café and store are there for the family. The restaurant next door offers great food and wines, a French chef, and inside/outside dining – all with a laidback beach ambience. Onemana is a popular water-sports beach with surf lifesavers in the peak season. One end is protected by a headland and offers calm waters for the young. The mown-grass beach reserve sports a children’s playground, a pair of recently resurfaced public tennis courts, and a well set-up Petanque court. For fishing there’s a choice of surfcasting, the deeper waters off the headland rocks, and a little further out a fishing reef for boats and kayaks. Offshore there’s sport fishing from Slipper Island all the way to the Aldermans on the horizon. The beach-house The house itself is on an 800 sq m promontory. Two sides of its back-section look out above an unused reserve with safe, springy long grass, native trees and birds – and all those views! The beach-house has key-access to a private complex with four heated spas and a solar-heated swimming pool. The deck: the key to this home is its large, sunny north-facing deck. It has commanding views over the beach, the sea and its islands, plus the village and the rugged Coromandel hills. There’s direct indoor/outdoor flow to the deck from the dining area and the lounge – and ample space for sunbathing, the many chairs and the BBQ. The flat lawn alongside the deck provides overflow space to stretch out and relax – or to play with the young-at-heart. The deck‘s partially covered so you can still barbecue in a shower - not that it will rain on your holiday of course! Upstairs is carpeted, with two large master bedrooms, a third bedroom with two single beds, plus a tiled shower room and separate toilet. Downstairs is floored in light oak – this is a beach-house, just sweep any sand away. There’s a modern kitchen, a spacious dining area, and the lounge – and the flow out to the deck. Also a second tiled shower room, and separate toilet. A large carpeted study (6.5m x 3.0m) offers quiet times, and enjoys direct deck-access. As an option this flexible room can offer sleeping space for two independent kids, with their own use of the downstairs shower room and toilet. A roomy modern laundry and full-size fridge/freezer are in the garage – which is fully lined, has a clean epoxy floor and is well-lit by large skylights. As well there’s a kayak, and space for your bike/pram storage etc, with access to the off-street parking for two cars.
