Salwey Supply Chain and Tariff Consultancy was formed with the specific goal of providing consulting knowledge, tools and guidance to importers and exporters across all facets of their Supply Chain.
Importers and exporters face huge volatility –abnormal business conditions are prevalent with sudden change and rapidly shifting paradigms. In addition to dealing with issues as their products pass through international borders, regulatory authorities and providers of freight services (shipping lines, air lines, freight forwarders, courier companies or domestic transport operators) we see global and regional factors such as the economic instability in Europe and natural disasters such as the Christchurch earthquakes.
The goal posts shift constantly. Governments are negotiating Free Trade Agreements, manufacturers of local product withdraw from the market providing opportunity for duty relief, freight rates alter with frequency never seen before, shipping lines are amalgamating, availability of space and equipment varies with seasonal peaks and troughs and the performance of the various ports also can have a major impact on your ability to deliver on time. Add to that the risks and reactions required to successfully direct source product offshore taking into account key drivers such as labour rates increasing in China, evaluation of lower cost alternatives and managing the risks associated with changes.
At Salwey Associates we believe our clients should be able to focus on their core strategic competencies and receive credible advice, guidance and strategies to further enhance and maximise their respective end to end supply chains. Today's environment dictates that successful importers and exporters operate flexible, dynamic, low risk, lean supply chains in order to maximise the bottom line and return to the shareholders.
