The Central Southland Toy Library stocks a range of toys, games, puzzles and dress ups which help children develop their imagination, encourage sharing and also teach them the skills they need to improve in reading and maths once they are at school.

The Otago University Tramping Club is one of the largest and most active clubs on campus. Aside from tramping we’re also into skiing, climbing, mountain biking, daywalking and aquanauting. In addition to this there is a very lively social side to the Club too. The OUTC exists to encourage people to get into the outdoors, learn new skills through various courses and become competent leaders, all while having heaps of fun. We are very lucky to live in, or to visit, New Zealand, surrounded by spectacular scenery, a great network of tracks and huts, and opportunities for off track missions and new adventures. We head into this wilderness every weekend, whether it be the Silverpeaks, Fiordland or even the notorious Copland hotpools. The OUTC has a wide range of social events including our weekly Happy Hour after the Tuesday meeting, Wednesday Walkies and other daytrips, slideshows, potlucks and parties, annual dinner and awards and our infamous Bushball.

The Scandinavian Club, Christchurch, aims to bring together all Scandinavians and interested parties in the Canterbury (and beyond) region. We provide events where we can bond, share ideas and reminisce about life back home.

The idea of a Community Garden in Oamaru was birthed 5 years ago by a small group of volunteers with a passion to make a difference. As we discovered our individual skills and talents, a team evolved and The Waitaki Community Gardens’ Trust was formed in 2008. The Waitaki District Council granted us the use of a 5 ½ acre parcel of land and we drew up a plan. Our first challenge was to find that special person to co-ordinate. We found Annie, who is the backbone of this project. Annie’s love, passion and commitment to our community goes beyond the call of duty every single day. Our primary source of funding is N.Z.Lotteries Grants who contribute to her 30 hour per week wages,but our true currency comes from volunteers!
