The Constitution Conversation

Secretariat, Constitutional Advisory Panel c/o Ministry of Justice, SX10088, Wellington ,
Nau Mai Haere Mai - A Warm Welcome! To the people of Aotearoa New Zealand, we encourage you to share your vision and ideas about the fundamental rules that govern our country. New Zealand’s constitution belongs to everyone. It provides a framework for the way all laws are made and it reflects our unique history as a society. We realise the review of New Zealand’s constitutional arrangements may not be the first conversation that comes up at the kitchen table. People will want more background information before they can comment on such important issues. We hope that this Facebook page will be one way people, can ask questions, find resources and share their thoughts and ideas. With this in mind, the Panel has published New Zealand’s Constitution: The Conversation So Far as a starting point for discussion. http://www.cap.govt.nz/store/doc/The_Conversation_So_Far.pdf THE ROLE OF THE PANEL The Panel’s role is to listen, hear and collate the views of as wider range of New Zealanders as possible including Māori. The Panel does not have “an agenda” or a “pre-determined outcome”. The Panel is an independent advisory group appointed by the Government with cross-party political support.
